Changing the Course of a Nation

Amendment #9 (SJR 27)

laptopConstitutional Amendment 9 (SJR 27)

Ballot language - Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended so that the people shall be secure in their electronic communications and data from unreasonable searches and seizures as they are now likewise secure in their persons, homes, papers and effects?

This amendment would add language that classifies electronic communication and data as sacrosanct from warrantless searches as persons, homes, papers and effects are now. The current wording of Article I, Section 15 of the Missouri Constitution only protects “tangibles”. The wording change in this amendment would protect “intangibles” also. Phone calls, emails, text messages, etc. would be protected from warrantless intrusion.

The Constitution Party of Missouri recommends a “YES” vote on Amendment 9.
